Welcome to the Nightmare Cottage!

Don't let the spooky name fool you, this is a podcast where we only talk about fun, happy things - like gardening, and painting, and puppies, and... Ah, family annihilation...

...Okay yeah, there's really no spinning this one. This week's episode takes a hard left turn back into the bloody realm of True Crime as Nylene covers the terrible tale of Captain James Purrington. A heavy and horrific story in equal parts, she relays the details of how the once respected veteran of the American revolutionary war would go on to be remembered primarily for his role in the aptly named Purrington Maffacre - Er, Massacre. Ugh, those damned old timey long s' get me everytime.

Then, Nym, both semi speechless and hyper aware of her chosen topic for the episode, begrudgingly follows this up with an in depth look at the history of slasher films... Somehow both appropriate and wildly inappropriate at the same time, but that's kinda the whole brand here at the cottage, right? From the relatively unstructured proto-slasher and italian giallo films of the past to the gore soaked spectacles of today, Nym walks us through the evolution of the Slasher sub-genre with all the poise one can be expected to muster right after listening to their best friend describe the gruesome axe murder of an entire family.

Suffice to say… Sweet dreams, and listener discretion advised.
